Hi All

Great to be part of the community here, and lovely to be able to share a mutual love of Marc's music.

My own band are The Cohen Brothers (I didn't want the added "e" - but I got voted out !) - we have "Rainy Season" in our set & you can hear our version of Marc's version of "Isn't That So" on our album playing at www.myspace.com/thecohenbrothers

Can't wait for Marc's new album - its such a great concept - its just fantastic to be able to play songs that inspire you - and to hear Marc's renditions will be one of my highlights of this year.

I just hope he comes to the UK to play for us !

Speak soon

J

You and me both!

Welcome...great sounding Isn't That So. I may catch you in a gig - my mother lives in Worcester so I could combine a trip to see her. But you have to promise to play at least a couple of Cohn tunes, as well as some JT...

Wow, Shawn - this is quite a small world isn't it !

We play at The Lamb in West Malvern on Friday 9th April if you are around, it would be lovely to meet you.

Marc was a major reason for me starting up singing and playing again after many "dormant" years - Bob Harris regularly played Rainy Season, Ghost Train, SIlver Thunderbird, Things We Handed Down etc on his late night programmes in the 90's & 00's and I realised how little of Marcs music I really knew.

I started up with Pete (who plays percussion in the band) just trying to work some of Marcs tunes and the 2 of us played around the West Mids - then, after meeting up with an old drummer buddy Dave (we had a band together as teens - almost 30 yrs ago !) we started writing our own material - found an incredibly gifted electric guitar player (Sean) and after a succession of bass players (including Russ who played some lovely upright bass on our CD) we finally have Brian who brings a more bluesy edge with a touch of funk & jazz.

At the moment only Rainy Season & Isn't That So are in the bands set - to get gigs we have responded to people saying we have a Steve Winwood feel by bringing in a few of his & live we tend to build the set from a chilled/laid-back groove to a more rocky/funky end - seems to go down well

I want to bring some other Marc tunes in - "Levon" has been in & out and I'm going to try to get it back in - "Oleana" is on my target list, its just such a great song

If there are any tracks you like on myspace - just drop me a note & I'll email you mp3's

and last but not least, thanks for setting up this resource - its fantastic to have a place to chat ! ..... lets keep plugging away at getting Marc to visit here again - I've never seen him live, although been sorely tempted to get over to the US to see him - which I may well do this year :o)

Cheers

J

Thanks Julian. April is too short notice but the Worcester Music Festival is in the diary.

I travelled to the States in 2007 just to see Marc in concert in Dallas and Austin. It was worth the trip!!!!!!

Speak later
