How best to get this Forum out into the world??

I am new to working these forums, so can anyone let me know how this forum would be found by searching on Google? It is nowhere to be seen at the present time.

Not sure if he would be up for it, but one way to get traffic would be to get .org to post a link to this board.

The other way would be to reach out to any Cohnheads for whom you have email addresses. The board won't start popping up on Google searches until the traffic increases which in turn will bring it higher on the search results.

The link provided on MarcCohn.com will certainly help with generating both relevant navigated traffic (matter of fact, you couldn't have done any better than that

) and SERPs (search engine results pages).

Ranking in google is an art and science in and of itself (called "Search Engine Optimization") and can be very tricky, deeply organic and abstract, however, being linked on the mainpage of the "official" site is pretty much the alpha through omega of what you want. A lot of how google arbitrates it's ranking structure is based on what sites link to you. Having the "best" site in any give niche link to you- and on the mainpage no less- is the absolute gold standard.

The key is time.
In addition to time benefiting the site in Googles algorithm in terms of "trustrank", with time comes user-generated content which in turn gets indexed which in turn generates results for specific niche related search terms, which in turn begets more traffic and interest, in turn, in turn... Since the forum appears to be brand spanking new, be prepared for a long soak as far as generating relevant activity, however, again... Getting linked on the mainpage of the official site is basically winning the game from the outset.

After a while, once the content is up, try submitting the site to dmoz.org. Another process that can be arduous, but worth it in the long run.

Obviously, the intent of any website is to keep people on it, browsing around and hopefully, buying something (or obtaining relevant information that will eventually lead to their buying something).

Outbounds don't always bode well for that, however, this position is somewhat perplexing (and unfortunate)... Obviously, they aren't obligated to provide any sort of explanation, but I wouldn't mind hearing their reasoning. This is an unmonetized site and very clearly made in good-faith by the people who buy albums and concert tickets.
